Krishnendu Porel was Born in 1965. He studied Drawing & Paintings at College of Visual Arts, Kolkata (1984 -86). Passed B.V.A from Govt. College of Art & Craft (Calcutta University) in 1991 with first class 1st (Gold medalist). Passed M.F.A. from Benaras Hindu University (B.H.U.) in 1994 with First class 2^nd (Silver medalist). Received Junior Fellowship from Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in 1994. Went to Germany in 1999 for higher study in drawing & painting, studied at Kunstseminer, Metzingen, Germany. Invited artist in residency at Atelier Haid, Germany.

Krishnendu have participated in many prestigious & important group shows in India & abroad & had 16 solo shows including a solo at Heilsoff Museum, Germany.
