Kumar
Born
in Simla, Ram Kumar received his early education in art at the
Sarada Ukil School in New Delhi, before moving to Paris in 1950
to study under Andre Lhote and Fernand Leger. In 1970, he received
the J.D. Rockefeller III Fund Fellowship. His works have been
exhibited in the Biennales in Tokyo. (1957 & 1970). Venice
(1958), and Sao Paolo (1961, 1965. & 1980) and with Saffronart
& the Pundole art gallery, Mumbai, New Delhi. San Francisco
& New York (2002. His works are included in the collections
of the National Gallery of Modern Art. New Delhi, and the Lalit
Kala Akademi, New Delhi. He was awarded the Padma Shree by the
Government of India in 1971. Ram Kumar lives and works in New
Delhi.
